What engine oil does
Engine oil lubricates moving components and helps manage heat. With use, oil can degrade and collect contaminants. Replacing the oil and filter at the appropriate interval helps your engine operate as intended.
How often should you change it?
There is no single distance that fits every vehicle. Your manufacturer’s maintenance schedule, the specified oil, your driving conditions and any service reminder are better guides than a universal kilometre rule.
